How To

Preheat the oven. After greasing the pie dish or tart dish, add the pastry and bake it.

Mix up the chicken, bacon, beans, onion and cheese and place in the baked quiche dish, once the base is cooked.

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cups of cooked shredded chicken
  2. 1/2 cup of bacon bits fried
  3. 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
  4. 1/3 cup of red onion finely chopped
  5. 1/3 cup of black beans
  6. 4 large eggs
  7. 2 cups of milk
  8. 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper
  9. 1/2 teaspoon of dried or fresh thyme
  10. a few black olives cut into slices for decorating
  11.  Easy bought pie pastry or shortbread pastry, a recipe to bake –> Shortbread Crust Pastry recipe
  12. basil leaves to place on top.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 225 Deg. C (450 Deg. F) to bake the pastry crust
  2. Bake the pastry crust for 20- 25 until firm.
  3. In a large bowl add the shredded cooked chicken, fried bacon bits, sauté onion, black beans, grated cheese. Mix all together.
  4. Place these ingredients in the baked crust dish.
  5. In another bowl mix the egg and milk and salt and pepper with thyme well. Then pour over the ingredients in the quiche dish. (for the correct ratio to get a good custard mix, there should be 1 egg per 1/2 cup of milk or cream)
  6. Add some black olives that were sliced on top for decoration.
  7. Turn oven to 150 Deg. C (300 Deg. F)
  8. Bake the quiche for 40-45 minutes until tested baked, and the knife comes out clean.
  9. Place on a cooler rack for at least 10 minutes or so until warm enough to serve. Place the basil leaves on top.
