How To make this chicken a la king and rice

First of all place the whole chicken in a pot and boil until cooked. Leave to cool some before shredding the chicken for the dish.

Depending on your choice use a tin of mushrooms or cut and precook the button mushrooms.

Preparing the rice with stock available according to your recipe. Add some frozen veggies as well for color and taste.

While the soup is being made with cream and mushroom liquid, add the shredded chicken and mushrooms. Adding the sherry once the soup has thickened.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  1. 1 packet of cream of mushroom soup
  2. 1 whole chicken (boiled or left over chicken shredded)
  3. 1 large tin of button mushrooms or about 400g of sliced fresh button mushrooms (cooked)
  4. 1/4 pint (125 ml)of dairy cream
  5. 1 cup of sherry
  6. 2 cups of rice
  7. Some frozen veggies. (or any left overs from a meal)

Instructions

  1. Boil the whole chicken until soft and done. Do not add salt as the soup is salty enough.
  2. Drain the chicken and allow to cool before shredding the chicken for this dish.
  3. Keep the juice of the tin of mushrooms for stock. (if using tin mushrooms)
  4. Prepare cream of mushroom soup with 1 up of stock (above) and 1/2 cup of cream. Cooking until it thickens.
  5. Add the mushrooms and shredded chicken pieces then bring to a boil and add the sherry.
  6. Use the remainder of the stock to cook the rice. 
  7. Cook some frozen veg. (peas and carrots and corn)
  8. Once all is cooked plate up the rice and veggies then the chicken a la king.
  9. Enjoy

Notes

This meal can be made with left overs of a roasted chicken with left over veggies or possibly even rice.
