Easy Apple Strudel Wraps
A popular apple strudel recipe with a difference. So simple, for those that do not want to work with pastry or do not have the time to. Put this apple strudel wrap together and bake for 15 minutes to melt the apple and cinnamon and sugar together for a pleasing and delicious dessert. An Oven Bake recipe that has sprinkled powder sugar covering the apple strudel. Still taste like apple strudel, as the flavorful and tender strudel wrap or tortilla, does not differ from the classic one in taste, but it is much easier to prepare. Great snacks to make for a sweet treat just cut into slices.
What pastry is apple strudel made from?
Traditionally apple strudel is made form “strudel dough” that is very soft and hand worked to a very thin like wrap or sheets. You can use filo pastry or puff pastry and for this recipe we have made very simple for those that do not have or want to use the doughs and pastries. We used wraps or tortillas. They taste the same and work out well. Delicious.
Is apple strudel served hot or cold?
Apple strudel can be serve hot or cold. It is delicious if made with pastry or fila dough, then warmed up for it to be crispy and warming up the apples inside are also very tasty. You can serve with powdered sugar or cream and maybe ice cream. But so delicious on its own.
Ingredients
- tortilla
- apples (granny smith or sweet red apples)
- butter, sugar, egg
- cinnamon
- juice lime or lemon
- Powdered sugar (for decoration)
How To
Peel the apples from the seeds and insides. Dice the apples into small cubes and drizzle with lime juice. You can mix the apples with sweet and granny smith.
Place apple cubes in a pan, add sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tbsp butter. Cook apples until soft, about 3 minutes over medium heat.
Spread the tortilla on the table. Brush the surface of the tortilla with butter.
For strudel, choose a rectangular thin tortilla with dimensions 11*20 inches weighing 3 1/2 ounces. You can adapt the recipe to your taste.
Change things up with this recipe.
- If you have sour apples, you can increase the amount of sugar.
- You can eliminate the cinnamon or replace it with vanilla extract.
- If desired, you can add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling
Place the apple filling in the center.
Set aside 1 1/2 inches and roll up the long edges of the tortilla on both sides.
Roll the product into a roll. Brush all sides with beaten egg. Place the roll on a baking mat (or parchment) seam side down.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden.
Transfer the strudel to a serving plate, cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Variations:
1. Experiment with the filling –
- seedless cherries, cottage cheese with sugar,
- grated poppy seeds with honey,
- caramelized pears with soft cream cheese,
- apricots with raisins.
2. If you plan to feed a whole crowd, increase the amount of food, but don’t make it a very long tortilla. It may tear from the moist filling. It is better to prepare several rolls.

1. Preheat oven to 180 deg. C (356 deg. F.) Peel the apples from the seeds and insides. Dice the apples into small cubes and drizzle with lime juice.

3. Spread the tortilla on the table. Brush the surface of the tortilla with butter.

5. Set aside 1 1/2 inches and roll up the long edges of the tortilla on both sides.
6. Roll the product into a roll. Brush all sides with beaten egg. Place the roll on a baking mat (or parchment) seam side down. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden.
7. Transfer the strudel to a serving plate, cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar. It depends on the length of your wrap or tortilla how many it will serve.
