Do sweet potatoes or regular potatoes take longer to bake?

It will depends on the size of the potatoes. A larger potato in regular or sweet would take longer to bake. With this potato bake recipe, we slice them thinly and add some onion and tomato between the two types of potato. Baked or roasted in the oven with spiced cream, for a delicious side dish. This way they should take the same time to cook.

How To bake Crispy Roasted Sweet and Regular Potato Bake

  • Preheat the oven to 180 deg. C (350 deg. F) and obtain your casserole dish. Dish should be about a (7 x7 “). Double or triple the recipe for larger family dinners or barbecues.
  • Peel you potatoes, and slice them to about 1/2 cm thick. Also slice your red onion and the tomato in slices. Similar sizes. This dish will be good for about 3-4 servings a person.

  • Drizzle a little olive oil on the bottom of the casserole dish, enough to just lightly grease it.
  • In a large bowl add all your slices, and then spice them with salt and pepper, and oregano, and garlic flakes.
  • Start to arrange your different ingredients, standing up the slices, in a row. One regular potato or two, then a slice of onion, then two slices of sweet potato, then a slice of tomato.

Pour in your full cream. Brush the top of the potatoes with some olive oil, and sprinkle the Italian seasoning over them. (use small to medium potatoes, so the cream can cover most of the potatoes) or if a little larger halfway turn them around to absorbed the cream and give them flavor.   • Keep the foil over the potatoes for half of the baking time. Then for the last 15-20 minutes remove the foil and leave to bake finish. (even turn them at this point so they larger potatoes get covered in the cream). The potatoes should be tender and the cream will be absorbed.
  • Should take 35-45 minutes to bake, as this will depend on your oven you using. As well as the size of the dish. But check with sharp knife if the potatoes are tender and crispy.
