- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring salted water to a boil, add beans, and cook 4–5 minutes until bright and tender-crisp. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and crumble.
- In a bowl, toss onion rings with flour, salt, and paprika until coated. Heat about ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the onions in batches for 2–3 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels and cool before using in the casserole.
- In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, paprika, red pepper flakes, thyme, garlic, black pepper, and half the fried onions. Stir in the bacon (reserving some for topping).
