Puff Pastry Apple Turnovers recipe idea made from scratch for a dessert. So easy with store bought pastry, fresh apples filling, an oven bake.

Ingredients

  1. 5 apples, cored and chopped
  2. 1 Cup of white sugar
  3. 2 Tablespoons of flour
  4. 1 teaspoon of cinnamon or apple pie spice
  5. 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  6. 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  7. 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice
  8. 1 Packet of puff pastry (bought)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chopped apples, white sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice. Coat the mixture well with all these ingredients and leave to stand for about 10 min. or so.
  2. Preheat the oven 180 Deg. C, and grease two baking sheets and line with wax proof paper, greased for the baking.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into squares,  and place a tablespoon of apple mixture in Centre. Brush the sides of the pastry with whisked egg or milk to seal them well. Fold over the pastry and press with a fork to seal them.
  4. For them to brown nicely, brush the tops of the pastry with the egg as well. Poke a hole with the fork on the top.
  5. Place the turnovers on the lined baking pans. 
  6. Bake in the oven for about 12 minutes until brown and cooked.
  7. Leave to cool on a cooling rack before serving.
