1cupcoconut water
1/2cuporange juice
2 tablespoons lemon
a pinch of sea salt and
1/2cup water or ice cubes
lemon slices orange, mint for garnish.
Instructions
Use coconut water or If using a ripe coconut use this method: (Inspect a ripe coconut: at one end you will see three dark round dots called “eyes”. One of these eyes is usually softer than the others – it is through it that it is easiest to get to the liquid inside. Take a clean, sharp object – for example, a corkscrew, a screwdriver or a metal skewer – and carefully pierce the soft eye. For better drainage of liquid, it is worth making not one, but two holes – one for drainage, the other for air ventilation. Turn the coconut upside down over a glass or jar and let the water drain. Mature coconuts don’t have as much water as young coconuts, but they still have enough to use in drinks, smoothies, or desserts.)
Set aside 4 orange slices and 2 lemon slices for serving. Squeeze the remaining citrus fruits to extract the juice. Mix the juice and coconut water.
Strain the cocktail through a fine sieve.
Add salt and stir the drink until dissolved. Place ice, mint, orange and lemon slices in serving glasses. Pour in the cocktail and enjoy a delicious and healthy drink.
Store the cocktail in a closed jug in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Shake and stir before drinking. The electrolyte drink is medium sweet with a pleasant sourness. It perfectly quenches thirst, replenishes electrolytes after heat, illness, or exercise.
